Q: How do I know if my dog needs supplements?
A: If you notice signs such as digestive issues, a lackluster coat, low energy levels, or other subtle changes, it may be an indication that your dog's current diet isn't providing everything they need. A review of your dog's food and lifestyle can help determine if targeted supplements might improve their well-being.

Q: What lifestyle changes can help manage my dog's chronic illness?
A: Consider adjustments that support overall well-being. Moderate exercise, stress reduction techniques, and maintaining a calm, consistent daily routine can all contribute to better health management. These changes work together with dietary modifications to help alleviate chronic symptoms.

Q: Are there any risks associated with using canine supplements?
A: When used appropriately, supplements can be very beneficial; however, using products that are not properly formulated or not suited to your dog's specific needs may lead to nutrient excesses or deficiencies. It's important to choose reputable brands and consider a professional canine nutrition expert's guidance when introducing new supplements.

Q: How can a holistic pet health coach assist in managing my dog's chronic illness?
A: A holistic pet health coach offers personalized guidance by evaluating your dog's diet, lifestyle, and overall environment. They develop a customized plan that may include dietary adjustments, natural supplements, and complementary therapies. With ongoing support and education, they empower you to make informed decisions that help improve your dog's long-term well-being.

Q: What essential nutrients does my dog need?
A: Dogs require high-quality proteins, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and natural fibers to support their energy, muscle function, and overall vitality. These nutrients work together to help maintain a strong immune system, healthy skin, and proper digestion.

Q: How does a quality nutrition plan impact my dog's health?
A: A thoughtfully formulated nutrition plan that emphasizes nutrient-rich, natural ingredients can improve your dog's digestion, boost energy levels, support a vibrant coat, and contribute to overall wellness. Using raw or gently cooked foods can help preserve natural enzymes and nutrients that are essential for your dog's daily needs.

Q: Are supplements created equally?

A: No, not all supplements are created equally. The quality and effectiveness of a supplement can vary based on several factors:

  • Ingredient Sourcing: Premium supplements often use high-quality, natural ingredients that have been carefully sourced and tested for purity.

  • Manufacturing Processes: Supplements produced in facilities with strict quality control standards tend to be more reliable. Advanced manufacturing methods can also enhance the potency and bioavailability of the ingredients.

  • Formulation and Bioavailability: How ingredients are combined and processed affects how easily they are absorbed and utilized by your dog's body. Some formulations are designed for optimal absorption, which can make a significant difference in the supplement's effectiveness.

  • Third-Party Testing: Supplements that undergo independent testing provide additional assurance regarding their quality, purity, and label accuracy.

By understanding these factors, you can choose supplements that are more likely to support your dog's health effectively.

Q: How can nutrition help my chronically ill pet?
A: A targeted nutritional plan can improve your pet’s quality of life by:

  • Reducing Inflammation: Nutrient-rich, natural ingredients help lower inflammation.

  • Supporting Organ Function: High-quality proteins and fats ease the load on vital organs.

  • Enhancing Digestion: Raw or gently cooked foods preserve natural enzymes, aiding nutrient absorption.

  • Boosting Immunity: Essential vitamins and antioxidants strengthen your pet’s immune response.

  • Sustaining Energy: A consistent, high-quality diet supports steady energy levels.

In essence, the right nutrition addresses your pet’s specific needs, supporting natural healing and overall well-being.

    So grateful!

I truly could not be more grateful for Lisa. I almost lost my girls and she helped me treat their issues and also find the right diet to get their health back on track. She is an incredible human and so so knowledgeable. She always reminded me to breathe and stay calm during genuinely some of the worst days I’ve ever experienced. If your dog is struggling with health issues or you just want to transition them to a healthier diet so they can live as long as possible I could not recommend her enough. Forever thankful I found her and for everything she did to save my pups and to support me while doing so.

Helping and healing dog and dog mom too! I am so incredibly grateful for Lisa. My Bella has struggled with gut issues most of her life and we had reached a point where money I didn't have was flying out the window and we were getting no results even going to holistic vets. Lisa has been working with me to get Bella back on track and the results are amazing. She takes a whole body approach including helping me see areas I can work on within myself to be a better dog mom which I see reflecting in the health of my dog. The books she has recommended are incredible and such a great enhancement to my own life and practice. I highly recommend Lisa!

    Helped my dog so much

After having significant and long-term issues with our sweet dog, and spending a lot of money and getting no answers, we found Lisa. She was very patient and attentive. She listened to our concerns and worked with us to come up with a plan and not only help our dog, but something we could actually afford. We saw results very quickly. Our dog is doing so well. Lisa was so responsive and I’m grateful for her help. I just wish we would have found her sooner.

    Knowledgeable and Compassionate

Lisa is a Godsend to us! We are so thankful that our paths crossed. She helped us transition our almost 15 year old boy to home cooked, gave recommendations for the severe arthritis and also for high liver enzymes. Two months ago, we thought we were going to have to let him go. Today, he went on a mile walk. He is jumping and playing again. We are so thankful!
Lisa has a very calming demeanor and has never been in a hurry. She explains things well and gives very precise follow up documentation. She responds promptly to email or texts. It gives us so much reassurance to know that we can contact her at a moments notice and she will respond. Her recommendations have been spot on for us and has breathed new life into our boy. Our vet is very main stream and only offered pain management but nothing that could provide relief without more side effects. We highly recommend Lisa! Her prices are extremely reasonable (but we would have gladly paid more for all we have gained from her knowledge and competency.)
You will not regret partnering with her in the health of your pet!

    Goes above and beyond

Lisa has a very calming presence and meets you where you are in your journey. I was very anxious changing my 16 year old’s food to gently cooked after she had been on kibble most of her life. There is so much information out there to process and my vet wasn’t very supportive of the change. Lisa was so calm and walked me through step by step. I was amazed how my dog went from days of mostly diarrhea to normal stools. Her hair is growing back thicker and she seems to have more energy. I am going to book more sessions to get my cats transitioned.

    What a wealth of information.

Could not be more pleased with my consultation.
Lisa is so knowledgeable and I can’t wait to make some of these changes.

Helped me in more ways than I expected

Where to begin with the positive feedback… Lisa was such a pleasure to work with. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable, but she’s more responsive than any other vet or doctor could ever be. She helped my dog overcome a lot of GI issues, including bloody diarrhea, taught me how to balance his gut microbiome, introduced me to very affordable and high quality raw dog food companies, helped heal his yeast issues he was having on his paws, introduced me to all kinds of natural remedies for potential future issues, and taught me how to balance his diet. I’m so thankful I found her and will be using her any time my dog has issues in the future. She’s an expert and worth every penny and more. Highly recommend!

    Gave my Zeus life

I would just like to say that I am forever grateful for her help her guidance her advice her everything during my time fighting papillary squamous cell carcinoma with my boy Zeus. They told me he would have about 3 months until quality of life would have to be decided. I reached out in some groups and came across this amazing woman! I followed her advice and after 3 months my boy is doing awesome! The non holistic vet was totally shocked by his condition. He's perfect! There is no sign of a tumor in his mouth; he's actually a little overweight but completely healthy! I cannot think her enough for all of her help

  • Danielle Freeman - Goose

    5 months seizure free!!!

In November ‘23 my dog Goose experienced his first seizure shortly after introducing a heart-worm medication into his new “health” regimen. My vet told me- “not to worry! Sometimes these things happen. If Goose has 2 in one month then we’ll reevaluate.”
Several weeks, another seizure and a trip to the vet later we left the office with a pharmaceutical prescription in hand and very little information on what could be causing my 9mo puppy health problems. I felt helpless!
On my quest to find answers I came across a FB group and when I asked for help, Lisa responded.
Lisa is so very knowledgeable! She provided us with more support than my vets office, and the right resources so that I could prioritize the steps I needed to take to get my boy on the right track to wellness! Helping your pet recover from their ailments can be overwhelming. It’s hard navigating through all of the products and choosing what’s best for us. Thankfully, we had Lisa. We’re 5 months seizure free (and counting).

  • Dianne D. - Sadie

    Extremely caring and thorough coach

Lisa has been my Pet Health Coach for my 13-year-old dog, Sadie. Sadie was diagnosed with masses in her abdominal area in December. I reached out on Dr. Ruth‘s Facebook page and Lisa responded. I booked a consult with her and have had the best experience with her. Lisa is so caring and knowledgeable. She has come up with a feeding regimen for Sadie and also has recommended supplements and different ideas to guide me through this process with her. She has calmed my fears and I feel like I have a real ally in Lisa. Lisa has been a godsend in helping me through this journey with my sweet little Sadie.

    So helpful!!

My husband and I have adopted 2 very energetic Jack Russell terrier puppies. I had recently lost my 2 Bostons; one to lymphoma and one to Cushings/jaw cancer. I rescued a 3 year old dog and unbeknownst to me she had mammary cancer stage 2 and we only had her one year. With these 2 new puppies I am determined to go a holistic route. Uncertain how to feed them raw and wanting more information on vaccines as well as spaying/neutering versus ovary spaying/vasectomy in addition to a myriad of other questions I found Dr. Ruth’s Facebook and connected with Lisa Mayer. When I read she loves puppies I knew I had to speak with her!! Armed with all of my questions, she called me by phone and patiently worked through every question I had. After our consultation she sent me an email detailing everything we had spoken about. Since that phone consultation I have texted her several times with questions and she is so kind to respond to each one. . I highly recommend Lisa if you are having any issues with your pup and are uncertain what to do. She obviously has a love for animals and a willingness to stay with you to help get your pet to better health! I hope she knows how much I appreciate her for helping me to feel more confident in raising these 2 puppies!

    Going Holistic Made Easy

Lisa Mayer is our health coach. We are new to holistic veterinary care and raw feeding. We have been dog owners for many years. My oldest is 7 1/2 years and our youngest is 4 1/2 years. We had decided to go with raw feeding. This was very inundating for us, as we knew nothing about it. Lisa guided us in every aspect of the change for feedings and changing to a holistic lifestyle and veterinary care. In a few short months, the change in our dogs is dramatic. Our oldest Kiki was overweight and we could not get her weight now and we could not cut her food down anymore than we had. Currently she’s 52 pounds, she lost 4 pounds in the last six weeks. She is thriving. I believe she’s acting like she did three years ago with energy and vibrancy. Reggie is 4 1/2 years old in good health, but was a little overweight he has since slimmed down and is also thriving. We have noticed a complete change in their demeanors, they play hard, and are very energetic, but what is very telling in their downtime they are very calm. I wish we had done this years ago but it’s never too late and Lisa has been the perfect Coach. This is not a road I would have wanted to travel blindly. We absolutely love her dedication to animals and humans so she has gained lifetime clients with us.
